The Orange County Animal Response Team (OCART) is a community-powered effort built on compassion, preparedness, and the dedication of trained volunteers ready to step in when disaster strikes. With support from Orange County, including an initial $75,000 in seed funding to launch the program, OCART is already working to fill a critical gap—helping safely evacuate large animals during emergencies like wildfires, floods, and other disasters.

But building a reliable, countywide response team takes more than a strong start. As our volunteer base grows, so does the need for specialized equipment, training resources, rescue trailers, and ongoing operational support. Continued funding will help ensure that when emergencies happen, OCART volunteers are fully equipped and ready to respond quickly and safely alongside first responders.
